Hungarian Author Krasznahorkai László Awarded Nobel Award in Literary Arts
Krasznahorkai was won the Nobel Prize in Literary Arts.
The Hungarian writer was recognised "due to his gripping and prophetic body of work that, in the midst of end-times dread, confirms the power of literature."
Krasznahorkai has authored five novels and received many additional literary honors, for instance the 2015 Man Booker International Prize, and the 2013 finest rendered work award in Fiction for his first novel Satantango, a contemporary piece regarding the conclusion of the globe.
Krasznahorkai is the second Magyar writer to obtain the award after the former Imre Kertesz, who was awarded in 2002.
Brought into the world in the mid-1950s, László Krasznahorkai earned acclaim in 1985 when he published "Satantango", which he converted for the big screen in the mid-1990s.
This black-and-white movie, by Magyar director Bela Tarr, is famous for its lengthy duration.
Krasznahorkai's further novels comprise:
- Melancholy of Resistance (1989)
- "War and War" (1999)
- Seiobo Below (2008)
The award body characterized the writer as "a outstanding epic author in the European tradition that spans via Franz Kafka to Thomas Bernhard, and is marked by absurdist themes and bizarre overindulgence."
His 2021 novel "Herscht 07769" has been labeled as a significant present-day Deutsch story, because of its accuracy in depicting the nation's societal upheaval right before the COVID-19.
It's a depiction of a contemporary village in Thuringia, Germany, troubled by social anarchy, murder and arson.
"Kind titan Florian is an parentless child, raised by a neo-Nazi who has trained him as a wall writing remover.
"His employer, a Johann Sebastian Bach fanatic, is furious that a person is using wolf symbol insignias across the monuments to the famed composer in their Eastern German city."
One critique described it as "accordingly grim from start to finish."
The writer's latest mock-heroic book, Zsömle Odavan, goes back to Hungary.
The main character is elderly Uncle Kada, who has a secret claim to the throne but has made every effort to disappear from the world.
