Diving into a Unique Steam Demo: Controlling a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have encountered numerous entertaining indie games. However, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game features a character that is actually a dung striving to travel to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

Player controls is simple: just use a single jump button. In numerous levels, encounter tough enemies and unlock a market to buy outfits for your poop character.

Execute your actions carefully, since one error requires beginning again. Leap on air pockets to propel the poop to new heights, traverse disappearing platforms, and activate buttons to unlock hidden paths. Gather coins for buying challenging game content where things gets crazy.

Graphically, the experience features neon environments and an amazing soundtrack. The simple art with moving geometric shapes may remind gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to name previous releases where you control a coiled turd, gaming often featured fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can craft throwables from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, fecal references shows up a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already received significant accolades, including taking top honors at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. The demo is accessible at present on Steam, with the full game planned to launch on Steam in the fall.
