In a bizarre partnership that challenges traditional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Disclosed

According to the official announcement, "An unusual encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of prohibited practices and fearsome transformations resonate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret cult.

The questline focuses on "strange trials and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Changes

The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Bonus Features

Players who finish the mission will receive an special katana alongside multiple items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Addition

This release also introduces the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Anime Collaborations

This represents scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that clearly referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
